ABOUT ME

I’m a Civil Engineering Technology student building real skills for real infrastructure.

My name is Kazim Khan Gul. I’m completing an Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology at Humber Polytechnic, currently enrolled in the Humber McMaster Bridge Program and progressing toward my C.E.T. designation through OACETT. Every semester has brought me closer to the kind of technical professional I’m working to become.

I’m drawn to the intersection of precision and purpose — where a well-executed field inspection, a carefully produced drawing, or a thorough lab report directly supports the infrastructure that communities depend on. My co-op with the Region of Peel gave me direct experience inside a municipal transportation maintenance program, and my construction background gives me a ground-level understanding of how projects actually get built.

My focus spans transportation and roadway design, geotechnical and materials science, surveying and spatial analysis, and sustainable building practices — the latter reflected in my LEED Green Associate credential, earned in February 2026.

EXPERIENCE

From Classroom
to Construction Sites.

Every role has added a new layer to my technical foundation — from active road infrastructure to residential paving to campus security. Here’s where I’ve applied what I’ve learned.

01
Co-op · Field Inspection May 2025 – Dec 2025

Roadway Transportation Maintenance

Region of Peel — Brampton, ON

As an on-road inspection specialist within the Region of Peel’s transportation maintenance program, I conducted detailed field assessments of roadway infrastructure to verify safety, compliance, and workmanship standards across the region’s road network. My work directly contributed to quality control and capital maintenance decision-making.

  • Performed comprehensive inspections of roadways, culverts, guiderails, pavement markings, and roadside assets
  • Coordinated directly with contractors during active paving, culvert replacement, guiderail installation, pipe replacement, and manhole replacement projects
  • Prepared field inspection notes, photographic documentation, and formal reports supporting project tracking and maintenance programming

Private Tutor — AutoCAD & Structural Analysis

Self-Employed — Brampton, ON

Drawing on my technical training, I provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to civil engineering students working through AutoCAD and Structural Analysis coursework. This role has sharpened my own depth of understanding by requiring me to explain complex technical material clearly and methodically.

  • Guide students through drawing interpretation, load path analysis, and structural calculation methods
  • Support technical concept comprehension with precise, step-by-step problem-solving approaches

03
Security · Team Leadership Jun 2024 – Dec 2025

Security Guard

Executek International — Toronto, ON

Provided licensed security services at high-profile GTA venues including the University of Toronto Downtown Campus, CNE, and Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Supervised teams of up to 10 personnel and coordinated with event organizers and clients to maintain safe, controlled environments across diverse site conditions.

Construction · Site Work Jun 2021 – Sep 2023

Construction Crew Member

Jasper Paving — GTA & Surrounding Areas

Gained hands-on construction experience across residential and commercial paving projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area — including Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, London, and Toronto. This role provided a ground-level understanding of how infrastructure gets built from the foundation up.

  • Performed interlocking installation, grass replacement, and general site preparation
  • Assisted with excavation, base preparation, grading, and material placement for proper drainage, alignment, and finish quality
  • Coordinated with crew leads to meet project timelines and quality standards
